NGO SERVICE CHARGE

As per the national policy, the “Trail Bridge Strategy auxiliary to the Local Infrastructure Development Policy" (TBS/LIDP), DDCs are required to delegate :

• Long Span Trail Bridges (LSTB, i.e. > 120 m) to the private sector.

• Short Span Trail Bridges (SSTB, i.e. < 120 m) to Communities and NGOs.

As the service charge of a NGO is minor in comparison to the cost of the bridge, it was decided by DoLIDAR of MoLD to standardize the service charge for qualified NGOs.

The service charge has been pegged at “up to 6%”, of the estimated cost of the bridge.

“Qualified” is emphasised, implying that the NGO must proven to be competent in supporting the Communities from both a social and technical perspective. Henceforth, DoLIDAR has developed criteria, to which NGOs must comply, for application by DDCs.

COMPETENCE CAN BE ENSURED BY ATTENDING THE DESIGNATED COURSE:

Twenty four (24) educational institutes associated with CTEVT provide courses to assistant-sub-engineers (also known as sub-overseers) in trail bridge building.

Furthermore five (5) Colleges provide courses to sub-engineers (also known as overseers) in trail bridge building.
